CAR Online reader Tim Hiscocks so enjoyed our recent Italian supercar adventure to Monaco (CAR Magazine, January 2008), he drew up a cartoon of the road trip featuring the Alfa Romeo 8C, Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Maserati Granturismo. New additions have been made to the design management teams at General Motors, both in Asia and in Europe. Effective today (August 1), Friedhelm Engler begins his new role as Director of Design for the Pan Asian Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), based in Shanghai, China. He is responsible for all design related activities in the joint venture between General Motors and the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC).
This McLaren F1 sold for $10 million
The price of the McLaren F1 keeps on rising, and just last year F1 chassis #66 was sold by Gooding and Co in the US for a then record-breaking £5.42 million. But that record seems to have been broken. Ferrari specialists DK Engineering in Hertfordshire have just spent six months tracking down an F1 for a British buyer, culminating in chassis #28 being sold for a reported £6.2 million ($10 million).
